At Regatta Point we have a very important rule:
No phones on boats or at the waterfront.
When kids and teens hear this rule, they roll their eyes.
They obey but, at first, leaving their phones in their lockers is quite a challenge. For some it feels like someone’s taking a piece of them away.
That’s why, in their breaks, kids run to the locker room to check their phones.
But something interesting happens as the season progresses…
Kids get caught up in what they’re learning.
They start paying more attention to sailing, friends, and nature.
It’s as if all the attention that had been kidnapped by their phones resets, and they’re more aware of the present moment.
They seem more energized, engaged, and happy.
And by the end of the season, we have many parents reporting that their kids hit the pillow earlier because they don’t wanna miss a day of boating.
Parents also mention that, at the dinner table…
Their kids can’t stop talking about all the adventures they had in the water!
Anyways, I’m probably biased, but…
…I believe paddling, rowing, or sailing is one of the best activities a child or teen can be a part of this upcoming season.
And if you feel the same way…
? Have your child or teen experience the benefits of boating. |
