She thought sailing lessons would be a fun way to meet new people and work out.
So she gave it a shot.
Even if she had grown in Connecticut, and had taught herself to sail small Sunfish-style boats as a child, she never received “formal sailing lessons”, as she calls them.
(Although our classes aren’t formal at all. But let’s call them that.)
On her first lesson, she had a blast…
…And it was this fun element that encouraged her to learn more.
She particularly liked our “Magnetic Sailboat” learning tool—one our students use to maneuver sailboats on a whiteboard, to see how the wind affects the boat’s movement.
This helps us plan ahead of the real on-water experience.
Anyways, Robin kept attending her sailing lessons…
…And today, Robin is now certified. She can sail anywhere on Lake Quinsigamond—and she enjoys doing it most on the 22-foot keelboat.
“You have to forget about everything else and concentrate on the wind, the water, and the angle of sail.”
-Robin Gay.
Robin is a happy Regatta Point member.
And if you’d like to become one too…
