Competitive Crew Team
Welcome to Regatta Point Rowing!
Competitive Team
Team Goals:
Our main goal at Regatta Point is to provide a fun, safe, and empowering learning environment for rowers of all ages and experience levels. Beyond that, we envision our athletes to develop powerful leadership traits, responsibility, and problem solving skills. Our hope is that our rowers gain meaningful experience here with us that will eventually morph into lifelong wisdom.
Varsity Goals:
For our varsity members, we expect rowers to make and work towards personal goals that will help them become better rowers, more accomplished athletes, and overall greater human beings. We believe that working towards our own personal goals should come before race results. We find that often, once solidly working on ourselves, our race results tend to follow suit.
Novice Goals:
For our novice members, our goal is to introduce this wonderful sport to a new group of people in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. By the end of the season, novice rowers will most likely be able to confidently handle and maneuver rowing shells, be able to perform the basic rowing sequence while in time with others, and have gained a community that they may not have otherwise come in contact with.
Seasons:
Our team has a spring season that lasts from mid-March through the end of May, a summer season that lasts from June through mid-August, and a fall season that lasts from mid-August through the end of October.
Practice:
- Monday -Friday, 4-6pm
- Saturday/Sunday – based on Regatta Schedule
Our Coaching Staff:
Head Coach – Blair Granum, [email protected]
Assistant Coach – Jackie Long
Assistant Coach – Sue Salvemini
Recreational Team
The recreational team is designed for kids looking to learn and improve their technique in a more relaxed environment. The team practices 3 days per week, mostly on the water, and is a good fit for those who are new to rowing and not yet sure if they want to commit to the competitive team, or who have other after-school commitments outside of rowing.
Scholarships
We believe in Boating for All and do not turn children away due to financial hardship.
Scholarships are available through the Gordon Battye Scholarship Fund. For information or a copy of the application, reach out to us at info (at) regattapoint (dot) org or call (508) 757-2140 for more information. Donations to the scholarship fund are tax-deductible.

What level is right for my child?

- Novice Competitive Team: A perfect starting point for those new to racing. Receive comprehensive training and work towards personal and team goals.
- Varsity Competitive Team: For those ready to take their rowing to the next level. Experience challenging training and competition, guided by our experienced coaching team of former collegiate rowers and coxswains.
Is camp still on when it’s raining?
Yes! As long as there is no thunder, lightning, heavy winds, rains, or other weather risks we will be open.
All classes keep going; we have amazing indoor spaces. If the forecast is for heavy winds, rain or other weather risk, we do stop boating operations, delay openings or close early. You can always call the boathouse, check out our facebook page, or look on the website to find out.
What is the Gordon Battye Scholarship Fund? How do I apply?
In 2010, Joan Battye seeded the scholarship with $500 in the name of her late husband and former assistant manager Gordon Battye. Since 2010, this scholarship has helped hundreds of kids, teens and families afford the rowing, sailing, and boating programs at Regatta Point Community Sailing.
Gordon Battye’s love for the lake inspired the scholarship fund in his name to support access to RPCS / Lake Quinsigamond for anyone in our community regardless of age, ability, race, gender, religion, or economic status.
To apply, please fill out the Gordon Battye Scholarship Fund Request Form. You may request a copy of the form by emailing us at info (at) regattapoint (dot) org.
